WALK YE IN HIM...

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him...
Colossians 2:6

God's Word contains many powerful truths. Upon reflecting on this particular scripture, I began to examine my walk with the Lord. I asked myself, "Am I walking with Christ the way I received him?" The Word of God says we are to walk with Christ as we received him. What exactly does this mean?
We must examine our hearts by reflecting on the time we first received Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. How did we receive Christ? First of all, we had to humble ourselves and acknowledge our need of God. Therefore, we are to remain with a spirit of humility as we daily walk with God. We are to walk with Christ humbling ourselves before him and acknowledging our need of him daily.
All too often we allow ourselves to become prideful and we neglect our time with God. Think about the time you first received Christ. You were full of joy and eagerness to be with the Lord. Are you walking with that same joy and eagerness to be with your Lord? Or have you allowed yourself to become complacent and neglectful of your time with God?
When we first came to Christ we had peace. Or you walking in that same peace? Or have you let the circumstances of life steal that peace from you?
When you came to Christ you were hungry for the Word of God. You wanted to get to know your Savior and your heart had a strong desire to read the Word of God and spend time in prayer getting to know the Lord.
How many of us have lost that first love we once had? In the book of Revelation when Jesus addressed the church at Ephesus, He had something against them. They had left their first love. They had become complacent and had allowed their zeal for God to diminish. Jesus asked them to return to their first love; the way they were when they first came to Christ. God never leaves us. We leave him.
Why not take time today to reflect on your personal walk with God? Are you walking with Christ the way you received him? Do you come to him daily with childlike faith in a spirit of humility recognizing your need of of him? Do you wake each day with peace and eagerness to please your Master?
Or have you allowed yourself to be like the church at Ephesus who had lost their first love? If so, why not return to the Lord and ask him to forgive you for allowing your heart to become complacent. Why not allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life and mold you into the image of Christ?
Let us make our relationship with God our first priority and before you know it you will be "walking in Christ as ye received him".
