He Came to Me |
A prison cell is where I sit Because of choices I have made Plenty time to have regrets Memories that will never fade I look back upon my life When easier things did seem Where did I go wrong? Is this really just a dream? What was deep inside of me That caused me to do harm Is it hatred that I feel? When will my heart feel warm I wonder if there's hope For this mixed up life of mine Is my life really worth living? Or am I just wasting time? Wait! A letter's come to me! Does someone really care? Look at what I've done Do you still have love to share? His name is Jesus you did say? He came to set me free? Oh, can this be possible! For someone such as me? Yes! At last I now have peace Within these prison walls For freedom came to me On Jesus I now call Thank you very much my friend For taking time to share The love of Jesus Christ to me And showing that you care Because of you my soul is saved I have peace and joy within You came to me in prison When my heart was full of sin Although I'm still in prison My life is not the same I belong to Jesus now The Book of Life you'll find my name! My heart is now made new Forgiveness came to me Jesus paid the price And now I am set free! I thank you, Lord, for sending A loving, caring friend To show me of your love Cause now I'm born again The letters of encouragement Can only come from you Working through my loving friend Whose faith has helped me through So, my precious friend I ask the Lord above To bless you most abundantly For giving me your love To those of you out in this world There are others just like me Locked in a prison cell With no hopes of being free You can make a difference In an inmate's soul today Just open up your heart And tell them Jesus is the way In doing that you'll see What being a Christian's all about Christ is working through you The Lord is pleased no doubt And when you get to heaven Jesus will give you a reward For souls you touched in prison And showed them Jesus Christ is Lord! The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Isaiah 61:1 |
