"O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise."
Psalm 51:15

Are you praising Him today? Maybe you have a trial you are going through and you just don't feel you can praise our awesome God. But the Word of God does not say to praise Him when you feel like it. God deserves our praise at ALL times; especially in the midst of a trial or tribulation he is allowing us to go through. Praising him is like a healing balm for the heart. It does not take away the situation we have to go through; nor does it heal our sick bodies. But it does get our hearts right. When circumstances seem unbearable or our bodies are afflicted, if we would begin to praise our wonderful God, our hearts would begin to sense His wonderful peace; the peace that passes all understanding. Somehow when we allow God to reach our hearts, then whatever we are going through seems more bearable because our hearts are right before God. Then suddenly, we no longer see our trial as a mountain, but just a little obstacle on our journey through life.
What is one way to get our hearts right? Praise Him! Praise Him in the morning! Praise Him in the noontime! Praise Him in the evening! Praise Him at all times!
It is easy to give Him praise when things are going well. Sometimes God may allow us to go through that trial or tribulation to test our faith or so we can learn to praise Him in that trial. God does not really need our praise. After all, He is God Almighty! God knows that when we praise Him it brings healing to our hearts and life to us in the midst of our despair. We are the ones who need it.
So next time you feel you just can't praise Him, remember it is a CHOICE we make. We can choose healing and life or misery and death. Try praising Him today no matter what the circumstance. You will find the Great Physician is the best medicine after all!
