A
friend once asked about myself
If a choice were given to me
To lose my sight or hearing
Which one would it be
A choice was also given
About my limbs I hold so dear
Would I choose my arms or legs
Which one would cause me fear
Decisions such as those
Would be very hard to choose
Cause no matter how we look at it
A part of you you'll lose
I gave my choice the best I could
Then realized I was wrong
About what really matters most
In my life however long
I chose the loss of sight
For the eyes they sin and tear
Yet my ears can cause me pain
By my choice of what I hear
As for my limbs I chose my legs
For they can lead astray
I thought keeping both my arms
Would be a better way
Then I got to thinking
That it's not an outward body part
That should matter most to us
It's what 's really in our heart
Our limbs are only valuable
If they cause us all to fight
Against the evil in our hearts
Till our hearts are truly right
Our eyes can be of value
When they help us see our hearts
If they help us look inside ourselves
Then our eyes have done their part
Our ears can be important
Listening to our heart they help us
But eyes and ears can cause us sin
For with both we choose to lust
So I've come to the conclusion
It matters not what part we lose
For the heart is most important
And that is what I choose
Take my limbs, my eyes, my ears
For without them I'll survive
As long as my heart can feel
That's all I need to stay alive
