Blood and Tears

I wrote this poem after seeing two gorgeous weeping willows in the yard of a Bible study I had attended. As I approached the yard, the trees stood there so beautiful and immediately I saw Christ in both of them. I came home that night and this is what the Lord showed me through the trees.

As I gaze at the weeping willow
Weeping down for all to see
I'm reminded of my Saviour's blood
How it was shed for me

In the trunk I see myself
A hopeless sinner I was lost
As the leaves are hanging down
Shows Christ's blood has paid the cost

But then I see much more
In this tree beneath the sky
Could it represent a broken heart
Or how we make Christ cry

Could it represent Christ weeping
When His children disobey
Or when a soul rejects him
And turns the other way

Whether it is blood or tears
Represented in this tree
Each time we look upon it
A reminder there can be

That Christ did shed His blood
To himself he wants us near
Yet how often do we fail Him
And once again there is a tear

So next time you see that tree
Just thank the Lord above
For Jesus Christ your Saviour
The meaning of real love

Total Surrender

I wrote this poem after a very dark time in my life when I unfortunately had drifted away from the Lord. After going through many a crisis and falling flat on my face, I finally came to realize that God wanted my total surrender to Him and not just a partime surrender. Upon surrendering to God completely, I wrote this poem to my Lord.

Lord, I give to you
Everything within my soul
I give my life to you
For you to shape and mold

Much of me needs cleansing, Lord
For sin has control of me
I trust you with my whole heart
Make me holy as can be

Take my spirit of depression
And all despair within
Away with fear and bitterness
I no longer want this sin

Fill me with your Holy Spirit
And let me shine for you
I want to do your perfect will
As you ask of me to do

Protect my home form evil, Lord
May it always reflect you
Bless those who choose to hurt us
Give us strength to love them, too

Teach me to be bold, Lord
And speak your Holy Name
To a lost and dying world
With all its' sin and shame

Use me as your vessel
To bless someone in need
Keep me from being selfish
Let me always do good deeds

And when I fail you, Lord
Place upon my heart
To ask for your forgiveness
And make a brand new start

For it's in you I've put my trust
And only you alone can heal
The scars left in my heart
Your love is always real

So when people disappoint me
And friends seem hard to find
I rest in comfort knowing
You love me heart and soul and mind

For Jesus you're my Saviour
Lord of my life you'll always be
I owe my life to you
Please have your way with me
