Forsaken But Not Forgotten

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. (Psalm 27:10)

Have you ever felt alone? Have you ever been surrounded with family and friends and yet for whatever reason you felt alone? I can recall a time in my life when I did not have my parents cause of the problems they were going through with divorce and mental illness, etc... After I began my walk with the Lord, I was crying to my precious Lord one day and he brought Psalm 27:10 to my heart. I will never forget that day that I felt such peace realizing that the Lord was right there to fill every void in my life and heart. He was telling me that I was never going to be alone and that although humans forsake us He never would.

Many Christians grow up in dysfunctional homes, but we do not have to let the memories of that period of our lives destroy the rest of our lives. The Lord is there wanting to fill that void or that emptiness one may feel inside. He will never leave us or forsake us. When humans fail us or cannot be depended on, the Lord can definitely be depended on. He is that father you never had. He is that friend who sticks closer than a brother.  He is the one that mends a heart that is broken from a bad relationship with a mother. He is the husband to a wife that is left abandoned from her earthly husband. He is the healer of any kind of abuse and the restorer of damaged self-esteem.

He is there when the rest of the world seems to be furthest away. But many of us when we are hurting fail to realize the depth of our Father's love. We feel lonely so we tend to blame or question God. We convince ourselves that we just cannot go on without so and so. This is a form of idolatry cause we are telling God we need so and so more than we need Him. When we get that dependent on a human, we are telling God that He is not enough for us. Imagine telling our sovereign Lord, the King of Kings, that He is not enough!

When we feel this way we also tend to worry about things that the Lord will provide for. We see things with our natural eyes and focus on our circumstances. When we focus on our circumstances then we take our eyes off of the Cross and the finished work of Christ. We crucify Jesus all over again by doubting that He is our provider and that He made a way for us to overcome and have victory. Oh, how this must grieve the heart of God!

But, the good news is our God knows our hurt, our pain, and our weaknesses. He understands we are frail human beings.  His mercies are new every morning and His grace is sufficient in ALL circumstances. His forgiveness is never ending and his love is eternal. Our God is everything we need.

So if you are feeling lonely, or you a shackled by your past, or you are forsaken by a loved one, remember that Jesus went through every pain you have ever endured. He understands how you feel and wants to bring you to a place that you are perfectly content and can rest in Him. He will carry you through every test and trial and will be the best friend you ever had. Toss aside those worries and doubts! Choose to let
Jesus be your ALL in ALL!
