Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. Psalm 138:7

Reflections of 911

On September 11, 2001 America experienced one of the greatest tragedies it has ever known. Countless lives were affected and will forever be affected by this horrible tragedy. Unanswered questions as to why such a thing had to happen will forever be in the minds of those who were affected by this. Can one ever really know why? Only God knows why and yet dare we question Him? Many people will have their own conclusions as to why and some will be angry at God for what has happened. Some will grow closer to God and some will reject Him. Some will say it is the judgment of God and others will say it is a Satanic attack. Some will blame it on terrorism.

Terrorism is what led to this crisis. It is a result. You may ask, results of what? RESULTS OF SIN! Plain and simple. Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" It is out of the wickedness of man's heart that acts of terrorism come forth. Wouldn't it make sense to say that the answer is obvious? REPENT! Yet, since there will be some that will never repent, that is the reason we have to fight war with war.

Those that cause such attacks to happen are those who hate the Lord Jesus Christ. They believe in false gods and give their loyalty to a god who can never save them. They are full of hatred in their hearts and do not know what it is like to love. Love is a foreign word to them. Should we hate them in return? What did Jesus say? In Matthew 5:44, he said, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." But, for those who lost their loved ones in this horrible event it seems virtually impossible to do this, doesn't it? Love your enemies? Jesus said to love them, but we do not love the sin or the fruits of it. We must come against the unfruitful works of darkness which belong to Satan.

We think about how this has hurt America, but have we really thought about how this breaks God's heart? 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God does not want to bring us suffering. He wants us to come to repentance. But, because man is wicked and will not heed the call of God he must also reap what he sows. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7

If we sow from the wickedness of our hearts then we will reap the consequences of that wickedness. We, as Christians cannot make someone repent, but we can stand up together as one against the evil in this world. We DO NOT have to tolerate sin. Yet many of us compromise and sit back and say or do nothing. Aren't we the ones that are supposed to spread the gospel to all nations? Where are the John the Baptists of today who will not be afraid to stand up and say REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND! How can we sit back and not defend our faith? Are we willing to lay down our lives for the cause of Christ? Those that hate the Kingdom of God boldly stood up against us, didn't they? The war at hand is not about terrorism as much as it is about religion. Their wickedness comes from their loyalty to their god. They are not afraid to die for their false god. They thought they were heroes when those planes ran into the towers! Sick, but true.

Do these same people know how much we love and are loyal to THE ONE TRUE GOD? Are we truly loyal to the God we serve? If so, shouldn't we prove it?

It is quite sad that it sometimes takes a tragedy as this to wake us up from our spiritual sleep. There is good in all things if we choose to see it. How many have come to the saving knowledge of Christ as a result of this tragedy? Many died and they will never know what their death accomplished for the kingdom of God. How many broken hearts and homes were restored as a result? Many did not know the real meaning of patriotism until this happened. Just to witness America binding together in unity was overwhelming. We also learned what true heroism is all about.

But, most of all, as Christians, we know that we serve a mighty God and He is in control and not us. We know that our total being comes from Him and Him alone. The greatest thing that we should remember is we need to spread a message of repentance to the world. A message that we will not tolerate this evil. Will YOU be one of the few who are truly loyal to the God you serve?

Wake up Christians!
